Privacy policy

MakeMyCVAI.com (“we”) is run by (to be added by the site owner). This policy explains what personal data we handle when you use the website and apps, why, and the choices you have. We wrote it to be read, not skimmed past.
What we collect
- Account details: your name, email address and a securely hashed password, or your Google account id if you sign in with Google. Optional: phone number and country.
- Your CVs and cover letters: everything you type into them, your CV photo if you upload one, and job adverts you paste for checks or letters.
- Payments: plan, amount, date and the order and payment ids from Razorpay. Card, UPI and bank details are entered on Razorpay's pages; we never receive them.
- Technical data: IP address, device and browser type, and the times you use the service — used to keep accounts secure and to stop abuse such as password guessing.
- AI usage records: which AI feature was used, when, how much text was processed and what it cost. These records do not contain your CV text or the AI's reply.
- Analytics: only if you choose “Allow” on the analytics notice, Google Analytics counts visits and pages viewed.
How we use it
- To provide the service: save your CVs, make PDFs and Word files, sync with the apps.
- To run AI features you ask for (see below).
- To send account emails: verification, password reset and payment confirmations. We do not send marketing email without your consent.
- To process payments and keep the records the law requires.
- To keep the service secure and working, and to answer your messages.
We do not sell your data, and we do not show your CV to employers or anyone else. Your CV leaves our system only when you download or send it yourself.
AI features
When you press an AI button (for example “Write it with AI” or “Check my CV”), the relevant parts of your CV and any job advert you pasted are sent from our server to our AI provider to produce that result. Nothing is sent to the AI provider unless you press such a button. We do not store the prompt or the AI's reply separately from your CV; suggestions are added to your CV only when you choose “Use this”. Our AI provider processes this data under its commercial terms for API customers.
Who we share data with
We use service providers who process data for us, only as needed for their part of the service:
- our web hosting provider (stores the website, database and files);
- our email provider (sends account emails);
- Razorpay (payments);
- Google — Firebase Authentication if you sign in with Google, and Google Analytics only if you allow it;
- our AI provider, as described above.
We may disclose data if required by law or a valid order of a court or authority in India.
How long we keep it
- Your account, CVs, photos and letters: until you delete them or your account.
- When you delete your account, your data is removed from the live service immediately. Copies in our backups are overwritten as backups rotate, within 30 days.
- Payment records: for the period required by Indian tax and accounting law, without your CV content.
- Security logs: kept for a short period and then deleted.
Security
The service uses HTTPS. Passwords are hashed, CV photos are stored privately and served only to you, every CV request is checked against your account, and staff access is limited and recorded. No system is perfectly secure; if we learn of a breach affecting your data, we will tell you and the authorities as the law requires.
Your choices and rights
- See and correct your data at any time in the editor and on the Account page.
- Delete any CV, letter or photo, or your whole account, from the app or website.
- Download your CVs as PDF (and Word on Pro).
- Withdraw consent to analytics by clearing the choice in your browser; the notice will ask again.
- Complain to our grievance officer (below). Under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act you may also approach the Data Protection Board of India.
Age
The service is meant for people aged 18 and over. If you are under 18, use it only with the consent and involvement of a parent or guardian.
Cookies
We use cookies that are needed to keep you signed in and to protect forms against misuse. Analytics cookies are set only if you choose “Allow”.
Changes
If we make important changes, we will update the date above and tell signed-in users before the change takes effect.
