No work experience yet? Your CV can still be strong. Lead with what you have — your course, projects, internships and skills — in a layout made for first jobs.
The order that works for freshers
- Name and contact details — phone with +91, a professional email (firstname.lastname@…), city, and LinkedIn or GitHub if you have one.
- Career objective — two or three lines: the role you want, your course, and two strengths. Not “to work in a reputed organisation”.
- Education — degree first, then Plus Two and SSLC/10th, with year and marks or CGPA.
- Skills — grouped: software, technical skills, languages spoken.
- Projects — your final-year and mini projects: what it did, your part, and the tools used.
- Internships and part-time work — even a one-month internship or a family business counts.
- Certifications and achievements — NPTEL, online courses, hackathons, NSS/NCC, sports.
The editor uses this order automatically when you choose “Fresher or student”, and you can move sections around.
Writing a project so it counts
Recruiters read projects like jobs. Say what it did, what you did, and the result.
- Built the REST API in Node.js and the React dashboard
- Showed live locations of 12 college buses on a map
- Used by about 600 students during a one-month trial
Common fresher mistakes
- An objective that could belong to anyone
- Listing every subject studied instead of real skills
- “Basic knowledge of computers” — name the software instead
- A long declaration and personal profile taking half a page
- Two or more pages when one is enough

Questions
Should a fresher CV be one page?
Yes, usually. One clear page with education, projects and skills is better than two pages of filler.
Should I write marks or CGPA?
Yes, for your degree and Plus Two if they are good. If one score is low, you can leave that line out — but never change a number.
Do I need a declaration at the end?
Most private companies do not expect one. Some government and Gulf employers still ask for it; you can add it as a custom section.
What if I have no internship?
Use projects, workshops, volunteering, freelance work or helping in a family business. Describe what you did and what you learned.
